The West Australian Museum is actually being renovated at the moment... The finished building looks brilliant from the plans & pics I've seen in James Street Mall... I was disappointed at first with the idea of renovating the Historic Museum, it's already a great looking building...!! Although it is the 21st Century and the new *WA MUSEUM* will be one of the best, if not, Architecturally Speaking, the best designed building integrating an old historical building, surrounded with steps, museum in the Southern Hemisphere...!! It will certainly open the entire area right up...!! James Street Mall will look incredible.... Today the barricades were removed, the restoration of the Old Museum has been finished off beautifully... Now they only have to build this huge building around it.... It will be a World Class Exhibition Centre.... The outdoor play area for children is still there, but I'm sure they'll be updating the playground as well....!! Opens in 2020, which is only 2 years away... The time will fly by, living locally, it's amazing watching these high rises being built over night practically.... There's a lot of employment opportunities in Perth right now, especially with so many new projects the government have going on at the moment in WA... This is a Great Opportunity for Perth to be able to host some of the best World Class Displays from all around the world....!! The new building is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, the Architecture is Stunning to say the least and it will really lift the entire James Street Mall... It can do nothing but make our great city look even better...!!!

We were really disappointed. The old WA Museum is 100 times better than the new one! So much more to see of the actual original things and actually about our history. So much of it is replaced by replicas (not real), touch screens, earpieces to listen in to for information, videos and photos with captions. It felt more like a showcase of the actual architecture of the building with huge vast and waste of spaces with nothing in them! The museum looked massive but the actual size of the museum showcase is not. The only section I thought was worth seeing were the rock collections but I have seen better elsewhere. The museum shop was far more interesting than the actual museum itself. Everything in the museum is about the environment and sustainability, where is our history? I've been to far better museums in country towns! However, it is slightly better than the Sydney Museum but not by much. I hope they change this as I won't waste my time going back.

Loved it there last Sunday. We barely had an hour and a bit and it was not enough by far. We plan a few return visits. The Whale skeleton was impressive as was the dinosaur one. Overall we liked how interactive it was and very well laid out. Spotless and the Air Conditioning was refreshing as well. The exhibits are well lit and the wall panels are very informative. It was an excellent education for my 3 kids aged 13, 8 and 8. We are excited to take in what we missed.

Beautifully curated with thought and care. Evokes a sense of pride and respect. For the land, the skies and the waterways, flora and fauna, its people past and present. Stories, science and wonder. What an honour to be able to call this great land home. Thank you for this exquisite expression of all we have to be thankful for.

Absolutely fabulous. Magnificent building, displays first class. Seven Sisters was the special attraction, on show for another couple of weeks or so. Interaction for children really great. A must visit. I'm going again. A credit to all who participated in its creation. Food service when so busy needs serious thought. Only downer.
